It’s too cold to go out – why not Study From Home?

Posted on 26/07/2022 by

The weather is making the outdoors very unappealing at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend your time wisely indoors!

As wind and rain batter at the windows and make it miserable to spend any time outside, many Kiwis are staying warm and dry indoors as much as possible this winter.

And if you’re stuck for things to do while you’re at home, or would like to spend this time as productively as you can, why not look into distance learning?

With Study From Home, you can take this time to earn a valuable qualification designed for the travel and tourism industry.

The best part is that you can start anytime! Our enrolment process is easy and we have incredibly supportive tutors and staff to help you along your journey to improving your career.

Here’s a little more about our courses and why they could be the perfect wintry project.

Study From Home courses

Study From Home offers courses at levels 3, 4, and 5. Typically, our students will begin with a level 3 course, such as the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism Level 3, which is an excellent introduction to the industry and offers a great foundation for those looking to find work in travel or tourism.

You’ll learn about cross-cultural communication, customer service, travel requirements and documentation, geography, New Zealand’s tourism industry, and more. Keep in mind, a lot of this information applies to other industries as well, so a qualification can be a good first step in any career that involves dealing with people and communicating.

Over the past few years, Study From Home has also been working hard to improve these courses and how students can learn. You won’t just be reading loads of textbooks, but rather taking interactive video lessons, taking part in online forum discussions, doing quizzes, problem solving with activities, and much more.

We know everyone has different learning styles, which is why we work hard to ensure the courses are as interesting and informative as possible, with plenty of support from our dedicated tutors.

Why study now?

Since you’re indoors all the time anyway and it’s too cold and miserable to do anything outside, winter is the perfect time to start studying.

However, it’s also the perfect time to earn a qualification in travel and tourism, as the industry is starting to really boom after the pandemic. As this coming summer will be the first time New Zealand is properly open to the world in years, the entire industry is gearing up for an extremely busy tourist season – and companies around the country are desperately seeking staff.

If you study a level three course full time (30 hours per week), you can maintain a part-time job or other responsibilities and still graduate this summer, just in time to find employment straight away.

Also, if you enrol right now, you can also apply for an ITC Scholarship. There are several Scholarships to be given away, so get your entry in for the chance to win one.

So if you’re looking for something to do this winter, or are looking for a career change, take a look at what our courses offer, and get in touch today with any questions at all.
