Graduate career profiles
More than 3,750 students have graduated from The International Travel College during the past fourteen years! The majority are now working in the industry, both in New Zealand and overseas. Many are moving up the ladder of success towards their career goals having been promoted to senior positions. You’ll see that ITC graduates are in continued demand by industry employers!
We ask our students lots of questions when they leave, these are just a few of the answers. In each campus many of these student profiles are displayed, so you read about their experiences in their words, not ours!

What do you do in your job?
I work as wholesale travel agent designing holidays for clients wanting to go to exotic destinations.
What are some perks in your new job?
Discounts on travel and accommodation in various locations, the chance to go on educationals to the destinations I sell. Working with likeminded people who have the same passion for travel and can offer advice and personal experiences about places I am yet to visit, but are on my list.
What advice could you give to future ITC students?
To take the course and study seriously, put in the hours and do the work to best standard available. The travel industry is a competitive industry and the best jobs go to those who are willing to work for them.
Listen and ask questions, the tutors at ITC have so much knowledge and experience and are willing to share it, if you ask.
Look outside the box regarding employment, go to travel expos (that’s how I found my job), talk to people working in the industry and ask how they gained their employment and take up work experience options in a range of different areas to find out what you like and don’t like. Be willing to start at bottom and work your way up.
Jacqueline Slade, Telesales Consultant, Qantas
Jacqueline came to ITC from James Cook High School.
What sparked your interest in travel and tourism?
I’ve always wanted to work as a flight attendant, but studying at ITC has become an eye opener for me as they have shown me that the travel and tourism industry has more to offer and that there are also other jobs out there where you can travel too.
What are some perks in your new job?
Traveling perks are awesome, as well as discounts on accommodation and cars are a bonus!
What advice could you give to future ITC students?
It’s never too late to kickstart your career, it’s a huge industry and there’s always opportunities. Doesn’t matter what age you are, ‘you can do it’! My group ranged from 19 years to 50 years of age so it’s awesome to know that you are never alone!
What did you enjoy most about studying at ITC?
The support and how friendly the staff are, even though it took me 2 and a half years to get to where I am, the school gave myself and other students the motivation to step into the industry. I studied from home and thought it would be hard especially having 2 young kids at home, but with the support of my tutor I was able to complete my course. Also the awesome resources and being able to connect with other students online that were in similar circumstances to me really helped.
