Is studying from home right for you?Posted on 26/02/2015 by Jess O'Connor
Studying from home, otherwise known as online learning or distance learning, is an excellent option for people who want a great qualification but cannot attend regular on-campus classes.
At the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC), we offer the option to study four excellent courses from home. That means you can gain an airline, travel and tourism qualification from anywhere in New Zealand!
Are you thinking about studying from home, but are unsure if this is the right decision for you?
It’s normal to feel some uncertainty about distance learning, especially if you have never studied this way before.
Fortunately, we’re here to help. ITC’s Study From Home team is made up of highly experienced and friendly staff. Our job is to help you find a course that best suits your circumstances.
According to Study From Home Team Leader Carla Sutton, studying from home is best suited to those who want to work on their career prospects but cannot physically come to one of ITC’s Auckland campuses.
Carla acknowledges that many different people could find themselves in this situation, from stay-at-home parents to career changers.
“Stay-at-home parents can enjoy being with the kids, whilst still studying and achieving their goals. Some people may have lost their job, or quit their job, or be looking to change careers,” Carla said.
There is another key ingredient to success when studying from home, and that is motivation. Obviously you will be more likely to succeed with ITC if you have a passion for airline, travel and tourism and a genuine desire to learn more about these industries.
“The tourism and travel industries are very desirable, with lots of fun jobs like travel agents, flight attendants, tour guides, customer service assistants and bungy jump operators,” Carla said.
If the above sounds like you, then there is only one thing left to think about: are you set up to study online?
“It is important to understand that our Study From Home courses – also know as ‘Distance Online Learning’ – are very much that: online. You will need a computer and an internet connection at home,” Carla explained.
“All your resources, most of your assessments, and lots of communication and support are all provided via our online learning system.”
Sound like something you think you would love to do? The friendly Study From Home team are just a phone call away (0800 STUDY HOME) and ready to answer all of your questions.
“If you have time to study, a passion for getting a job in a fun industry, and a computer at home, then contact us so we can tell you all about your course options,” Carla said.Posted in Study From Home Tips | Tagged Distance Learning, online learning, study from home, study tips | Leave a reply
