Introducing our new and improved Virtual Orientation program

Posted on 29/07/2020 by

Our new Orientation Program is now completely online. It’s designed to be completed over two days, and includes a ‘Virtual Meet’ with your tutor(s) and classmates.

We’re excited to unveil our new and improved Virtual Orientation program.

Since you can now join Study From Home at any time, we have revamped our Virtual Orientation program to ensure you can get settled in quickly.

What’s changed

Before COVID-19, we hosted in-person Orientation Days in Auckland at the beginning of each new qualification.

Our new Orientation Program is now completely online. It’s designed to be completed over two days, and includes a ‘Virtual Meet’ with your tutor(s) and classmates.

Study From Home tutor Ali Sykes says the new virtual program is working really well so far.

“We’ve essentially created an online virtual classroom, giving students the opportunity to meet their tutor and build rapport with them, as well as meet other students starting at the same time,” Ali explains.

She adds that the new Virtual Program is far more time and cost efficient for students than the in-person Orientation Day.

“Although our in-person Orientation Days were a lot of fun, they did often require students to travel to Auckland, which cost time and money. Now, they can meet everyone from the comfort of their own home, which is exactly what the flexibility of Study From Home is all about.”

Ongoing community and connection

Another great thing about the new virtual Orientation Program is that once students have completed it, they are set-up to communicate with their tutors and classmates online for the duration of their course.

“The first Virtual Meet isn’t the last – once students are familiar with our online system and how it works, they can use it to connect with each other and their tutors,” says Ali.

It also means everyone is in the exact same boat.

“With in-person Orientation, there were always a few students who couldn’t travel to Auckland, and they may have felt excluded. Our new virtual program means everyone gets off to the exact same start,” adds Ali.

Study From Home: The flexible option

These changes to our Orientation Program have cemented Study From Home as a truly flexible study option for students all around New Zealand.

Whether you’re juggling study with work, family commitments, or live far away from campus, Study From Home offers you the flexibility to study at your own pace, from your own place.

Get in touch today to start at a time that suits you. We look forward to welcoming you in our Virtual Classroom soon!
