International Air Transport Association shares research highlighting demand for industry training
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has recently shared research highlighting how the industry is soon going to need trained employees who are ready to fill the positions created as tourism recovers.
This news comes after the IATA surveyed approximately 800 human resource leaders in the aviation industry, each of which are responsible for hiring new talent that offer the skills and knowledge necessary for the sector.
As many as half of survey respondents said their top priority was to assess the skills available in the workforce and map them against the needs of their organisations.
Additionally, “results from the survey show that the topics of safety, operations, security, and economic disciplines have been identified as the main areas where training will be required to master the currently situation. Safety was highlighted as particularly critical for airlines, ground service providers and airports.”
Not only that, but the IATA has also stated that distance learning will play a big role in preparing the tourism and travel workforce.
According to those surveyed, more than a third (36%) had already moved their focus to distance learning.
And even more interestingly, as many as 85% said that online learning will play an important role in the recovery of the industry.
“As aviation rebuilds, topics such as sustainability and digitalisation will gain importance,” said IATA.
